SARASOTA'S
BARRIER ISLANDS
Some of Sarasota's most distinctive homes, and famous
residents, are located on the barrier islands of Longboat Key,
Lido Key, Siesta Key, Casey Key and Manasota Key. Each
community reflects its own distinct character and lifestyle.
Bird Key
Nestled between St. Armand’s Circle and Downtown Sarasota,
connected by a phenomenal causeway "an architectural work of
art in its own right," Bird Key is a neighborhood of 510 homes
that include original garden homes, deep water canal front
homes and spectacular bay front homes. The island, developed
in 1959, continues to evolve and attract some of the most
talented architects and builders, reflecting some of the most
expensive homes in all of Sarasota County, yet never losing
its original charming and friendly atmosphere. The Bridge and
the park beneath has become a magnet for the fitness minded.
Casey Key
Nearly every home has a view of the Gulf on this secluded
island location. South of Siesta Key between the Gulf of
Mexico and Blackburn Point lies some of Florida’s most
prestigious addresses. Casey Key consists almost entirely of
single-family homes and offers unparalleled privacy,
un-crowded beaches and some of Sarasota’s most exceptional
properties.
Lido Key / St. Armands Key
Lido Key, just west of downtown Sarasota features St. Armands
Circle, a world-renowned shopping and dining destination;

The southernmost island, Manasota Key, has no high rise
buildings or traffic lights. It is accessible by two bridges.
A two-lane runs the length of the key with properties on both
sides, many of them spanning both the bay front and
gulf-front. Pristine beaches include a state park and wildlife
sanctuary on the far south end of the key.
